Mary Westervelt Good Luck wish
After reading some of these other wishes I feel greedy wishing for anything at all. I know there are always others out there that have things far worse in life to contend with than I do. My wish in some ways would benefit others to a certain extent if it came true. This is a bit of my story and my wish. I have been marrie dfor 12 yrs. this past August , I have 2 kids, boy 10 , girl 3. My husband has always worked but has faced several lay offs and company closings over the years. He was also injured and had to have surgery on one of his shoulders years ago, both of his shoulders still cause him a good deal of pain but he continues to work. There was never a monetary settlement for these injuries , had we signed off on it they would not pay for future medical coverage related to the shoulders and loss of time at work if he ever has to miss any because of them. We have struggled for years and often during layoffs we would use our Visa card to pay for groceries and essentials, I am still paying that debt back which is a little over $6000. I have worked on and off over the years. I have a CNA license and I recently took a Health Care Administrators licensing course for Personal Care Homes. I was laid off this past May. I found out I do not like working in large Nursing Facilitys and that I really do enjoy working in smaller Care Homes for the Elderly. Our problem right now is our car is falling apart, inspection is dur at the end of this month so in a day or so and our car is not going to pass, the doors stick shut all the time and I am tired of playing The Dukes of Hazard,lol, climbing in and out of windows at times. The car also has over 250,000 miles on it. Another problem is we live in a 2 bedroom Mobile Home and have seriously out grown it. My sons room is very small and my daughter sleeps in our room on a toddler bed. The house never looks clean enough to suit me as there just simply is not enough room to store things neatly anymore. I would love to be able to purchase a large home so that I could take in elderly people that needed an assisted living environment, I have the license and training to take care of them , the love to have them in my home, I just need the home. This also would become my job again and part of my income. I don't want to run a large facility , thats why I am not persuing a business loan. The one time over the years we applied for food stamps, we received them for 3 months, and then were told we had to pay them back because they made a mistake and didn't consider the little bit of stock we had in the company my husband works for, their mistake but we are paying for it. We have since sold the stock to help get us through the last time he was laid off. It will take us years yet to get out of debt and ever be able to save for a down payment on a house, the debt I am steadily working on. I just don't want to have to wait another 6 yrs to have a home big enough to be able to have elderly live with me , so that I can do the job I love , help provide for my family , and be able to have a home I'm proud of.
