Am a writer, photographer and digital artist, who has a fair amount of success in gallery exhibitions, yet am not yet creating an income. I have published a book of poetry and have a distributor picking it up to try to market it.
I was accepted to a very prestigious Writers Residency at Vermont Studio Center in the Spring of 2005. The cost of the month long residence is $3500, but I received a Writer's Grant to attend in the amount of $1100, and a work grant that will cover another $600. I am expected to cover the remaining $1800 myself, but I am on disability. I intend to go because it can help dramatically to advance my career, but the cost will be very difficult for me to cover.
My first wish is for a LAPTOP COMPUTER, with high RAM and GBs and a CDRW, because much of my writing includes photographic images. I cannot imagine how I can go to a Writer's Residency without a Computer! If there is any MONETARY ASSISTANCE out there for the RESIDENCY FEES, OR the COST OF THE FLIGHT OR AIRLINE TICKET ASSISTANCE, that would also be absolutely wonderful!
