In the next two weeks she will put the final touches on her project: a meditation and self-development centre located right on the edge of a piney forest, allowing those who are interested in approaching life and spirituality in a contemporary way to experience her centre in a natural, welcoming environment.

And welcoming it is, though not quite finished. The Zen garden will be one of the main attractions, with its healing plants and herbs, vineyard, rose bushes, reflexology pathway, fruit trees and meditation area, creating the ideal environment for relaxation and meditation. Their new centre has a spacious open room for healing exercises and yoga, bedrooms for retreat guests, and an office. The three stories are decorated simplistically, with calming colour schemes and several windows in every room to let the light, air and positive energy flow in. The simple and welcoming design of the centre parallels their straightforward message and teachings.
Athena's central theme is quite simple: healing needs to focus on the mind, the soul, and the body, differing from the conventional medical sentiment of synthetic drugs and the physical body alone.

By focusing her efforts on channeling positive energy in natural ways, using natural herbs and combined methods, and practicing the lessons she has learned over the past 18 years, she hopes to aid others in their own personal development. The Gaia centre is a place where science and spirituality coincide, named after the Greek Goddess of the Earth who represents spiritual nourishment and supportive nurturing. The balance of the inner being is dependent on the attitude towards the body and life. Athena feels so many people are tired of taking responsibility for life, and they throw themselves into activity, forgetting that the spirit has needs, causing frustration and stress to manifest in the body as illness and pain. Only through education and combined healing methods can they expect to find a healthy balance that works for their own individual needs.

These methods are aimed at the overall balance of a person, and the treatments and exercises commence with a personal consultation. The treatments that follow can range from a "Violet Flame Attunement" to private yoga lessons, from "Bach Flower Remedies" to anointing with sacred oils, and Dr. Mahesh Garje has come all the way from India to Bulgaria to practice and to teach Ayurveda for self healing, an ancient Indian medical system that combines the aspects of healing the mind and body through natural remedies.
